Obi remains upbeat on reclaiming mandate despite hurdles

Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate Peter Obi is upbeat he will reclaim his “stolen” mandate through the courts, beginning from the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT) about to commence hearing of the case in Abuja.
Obi reiterated at a stakeholders’ meeting in Awka at the weekend his commitment to exploring every legal option to claw back his victory at the ballot box on February 25.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared as winner, Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), trailed by Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Obi.
Both Atiku and Obi have challenged the result at the tribunal, and both argue they won the ballot.
“Earlier, I interacted with the Anambra State Labour Party stakeholders in Awka. The meeting was quite animated and constructive. Part of our discussions centred on the way forward for the party,” Obi tweeted, according to reporting by Tribune.
“I reassured them of my readiness to go all the way and explore every available legal option to ensure that we get our mandate back. I appreciated all their support so far, as I assured them of mine. PO.”
