In a series of tweets today, Labour Party flagbearer, Peter Obi, has said there were erroneous entries into the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC).

Obi’s comment is coming about 24 hours after a section of his support base kicked against the inclusion of a top Lekki Shooting denier, General John Enenche.

General Enenche was the director of Military Information who backed up Lai Mohammed’s claim that the Lekki shooting was a massacre without bodies. In one interview, General Enenche claimed that the bodies displayed on social media as those of the victims of Lekki shooting were photoshop.

@SavvyRinu had cryptically said: “If you are part of those who helped the Nigerian Government to spread lies about the massacre of protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate & all over the country, Nigeria will happen to you! #EndSARS.”

@fisayosoyombo said: “By appointing John Enenche, an officer who claimed photos and videos of slain #EndSARS protesters were ‘photoshopped’, into his presidential campaign council, Peter Obi confirms what many have always said: he is ‘one of them’.”

@kombo96147903 said: “I have withdrawn my support for him pending the removal of that man. No wonder he is being supported by Paul Enenche.”

@AbdulMahmud01 said: “What do we really want in this country? Remove the bad and replace them with the ugly! How can anybody defend General Enenche who was part of the false narrative of the deep state/military industrial complex that masked the truth of the #Lekkitollgate massacre?”

But @Firstladyship countered: “Peter Obi was with #EndSARS through & through. He never shied away from Responsibilities. There’ll be no crass dereliction of duty on his watch. Give Obi a break, he is no Jesus for Christ’s sake!”

But Obi has now conceded that the list was problematic. He said: “I’ve received several calls of concern following the release of the Labour Party’s Presidential Campaign Council list. Admittedly, there were some omissions and erroneous entries in the list, hence the concerns expressed. In response,  the Labour Party Chairman in the presence of members of the NWC addressed the issues during a press conference. In keeping with our commitment to accountability, responsiveness and transparency, an updated list will be issued in due course. I plead for patience.”
