The ex-Nigerian footballer and host of The Sports Parliament, a popular TV show on NTA, Segun Odegbami, has praised the Vice Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2019 elections, Mr Peter Obi, for his continued commitment to the welfare of ex-Rangers.

During his sports parliament, Odegbami  described Obi as the only governor who took care of the elderly ex-footballers, and continued to do so even after leaving office.

He commended Obi for such kindness and urged him to continue spreading the love.

Responding, Obi said that it was his personal resolve to always appreciate those who had contributed to a better society in different fields of endeavour, especially the elderly ones.

Obi said that all the Rangers ex-footballers made the nation proud and contributed greatly to sports development in the nation.

Celebrating ‘Chairman’ Chukwu, Obi said that his 70th birthday celebration was an opportunity to tell his stories of success and patriotism in the field of sports.

Obi recalled how Chukwu, alongside other youngsters, like Dominic Ezeani, were selected into the school football academy from National Grammar School, Nike.

“Chukwu’s humility and passion for football paved way for him and he was subsequently admitted into the Rangers Football Club and then into the Nigeria’s National Team, Green Eagles. Chukwu continued to excel in his football career leading his teams to victories as the captain”, Obi recounted.

Obi promised to take the birthday celebration to Chukwu’s house and further appreciate him for his great roles in Nigeria’s sports development.

Obi made good his promise by visiting Christian Chukwu at his residence in Enugu State.

Obi said that people like Christian Chukwu deserved to be celebrated by the entire country, considering the honour they have brought to the nation.

Obi prayed God to continue to bless Chukwu with good health and happiness.
