The Vice-Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 general elections, Mr. Peter Obi, has commiserated with the government and people of Lagos State on the collapse of a building in the state that claimed some lives.
Obi’s message was contained in a statement by his Media Adviser, Mr. Valentine Obienyem.
The Anambra State former governor also offered his condolences to the families of those affected in the accident that took place at Upper Iweka, Onitsha.
Quoting Done John, Mr. Obi said that the tragic incident – Lagos and Onitsha – like the recent crash of an Ethiopian Aircraft, should elicit the compassion and concern of everyone, because “we are all part of humanity”.
He expressed worry at the continued incidence of collapsed buildings across the country; and called on relevant agencies and organizations to double their efforts towards seeking final solution to the menace.
Besides, Obi prayed to Almighty God to grant the souls of the dead eternal repose, urging public authorities at all tiers to take the issue of mass housing seriously to avoid Nigerian citizens taking up accommodation in uncompleted buildings.
