Immediate past governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, has embarked on a vacation to “rest and undergo extended medical checks”.
His spokesman, Crusoe Osagie, made this known in a statement on Wednesday although he did not state where Obaseki would undertake his vacation.
Mr Osagie said Obaseki, “Once again expressed his appreciation to God Almighty and the people of Edo state and Nigeria for the opportunity to serve.”

“He urged all Edo people, both at home and in the diaspora, to continue to be hopeful and pray for the peace, progress, and prosperity of our state and Nigeria,” Osagie added.
Obaseki finished his two-term of eight years on November 11, handing over to Monday Okpebholo, the new governor of the state.
Earlier, Obaseki raised alarm of his impending arrest by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged fraud. He said he was not afraid of arrest as he is innocent of whatever the anti-graft agency may have on him.
