“The outcome of the primary elections, as has been acknowledged by all, is the triumph of internal democracy through which we will surely deepen our democratization process.”

Obaseki added, “As we intensify preparations for the general election in the coming months, I assure to work closely with the party to ensure that we emerge victorious at the polls so as to further deepen our development strides across the state.”

Recall that there were parallel primaries of the PDP in Edo State. The one was led by the  Governor Godwin Obaseki faction and the other was backed by the South-South Deputy National Vice-Chairman of the party, Dan Orbih.

Results of the primary from the indoor sports hall of the Dr Samuel Ogbemudia stadium where Obaseki delegates of the PDP converged, had the former Majority leader of Edo State House of Assembly, Hon. Mathew Iduoriyekemwen defeated the incumbent Senator, Mathew Uroghide to emerge as a candidate while Hon. Ogbeide-Ihama emerged the candidate at the Dan Orbih faction.

In Edo Central Senatorial district, former Minister of Works in ex-President Goodluck Jonathan’s administration, Mike Onolememen, picked the PDP ticket for Edo senatorial district for the Orbih’s faction, while Clifford Ordia, the two-term incumbent senator emerged candidate of the Obaseki led faction.

Similarly, in Edo North, Pascal Ugbome, emerged as the candidate of the Orbih’s faction while Mrs Victoria Edelokun won the ticket of Obaseki faction in the parallel primaries.
