Obaseki also said he does not regret falling out with Oshiomhole, Philip Shaibu and other political associates

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has called the bluff of Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, insisting that Edo people are wise enough to decide whom to vote for.
He made this known on Thursday while featuring on Channels Television’s Politics Today, where he also said Wike is an “outsider” in Edo politics.
Obaseki went on to insist that his fallout with the former Rivers State governor will not hurt the chances of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to emerge victorious in Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
Wike, who worked for Obaseki’s victory against Adams Oshiomhole-backed candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the All-Progressives Congress (APC) in 2020, has vowed not to support the governor’s candidate, Asue Ighodalo, come Saturday.

Speaking during a recent interview, Wike said, “When Obaseki brought Ighodalo to my house two times to support him, they did not know the REC is my cousin. It is just today that they know that he (Onuoha) is my cousin.”
He added, “I told them (Obaseki and Ighodalo) when they came to see me that I’m not going to support Ighodalo. Neither am I going to support anybody. The one I supported you never helped with anything but rather I was insulted.”
Reacting to the threat, Obaseki said, “He (Wike) came to get Edo people to vote for me, right? Wow! Edo people are not that dumb, they know who to vote for.
“They don’t require the services of an outsider to make their decisions. Edo people will make their decisions this time because they know what they want.”
The governor further said he does not regret falling out with some of his political associates, including Oshiomhole, Philip Shaibu, among others, adding that some politicians were not happy with him because he had used money from government’s revenues to solve people’s needs.
