Obama in 2019 added ‘Iron Man’ by Rema to his summer playlist and also listed Wizkid’s hit song ‘Essence’ in 2021

Former President of the United States of America, Barack Obama has included songs by Nigerian music stars, Burna Boy and Ayra Starr to his 2023 summer playlist.
This was revealed on Thursday night, when the very popular 44th American president unveiled the list via his Twitter handle.
In the now-viral post shared by the ex-American leader, only “Sittin’ On Top Of The World’ by Grammy award-winning Nigerian singer, Burna Boy featuring US-based British rapper, 21 Savage, and Ayra Starr’s ‘Sability’ were the two Afrobeats songs that made the cut.

Taking to his social media page Obama revealed he has been listening to the songs since the beginning of the year and asked netizens to share songs they think he needs to add to his list.
He tweeted: “Like I do every year, here are some songs I’ve been listening to this summer — a mix of old and new. Look forward to hearing what I’ve missed.”
Prior to this, Nigerian singers such as Wizkid, Tems and Rema have all made President Obama’s playlists at different times.
‘Iron Man’ of Rema’s debut EP made the 2019 Obama summer playlist, while Wizkid and Tems’ hit song ‘Essence’ was included in the 2021 Barack Obama’s summer playlist.
