OAP, Daddy Freeze carpets BBNaija star, Pere, on Twitter

OAP, Daddy Freeze disagreed with BBNaija season 6 finalist, Pere on why airlines always require phones to be turned off during flights

Two celebrities have shared divergent views on why airlines require mobile phones to be switched off during takeoffs and landing of flights.

Pere Egbi took to his Twitter account to advise Nigerians to always obey the instructions of flight crews, whenever they were asked to switch their phones off.

He added that their safety is paramount and that whatever they intended to use the phone for, can be done when the plane takes off or lands.

In his words: ‘Dear Nigerians, when the flight crew says turn off all mobile devices especially during the critical phases of taking off and landing, TURN IT OFF! Those texts and calls can wait! Safety first! Happy Friday!”

On Air Personality (OAP), Daddy Freeze barely waited for him to post the Tweet before clapping back.

He disagreed with him saying Nigerians should disregard the advice because mobile phones cannot affect a modern aircraft and challenged pilots to a debate over the matter.

He also said airlines ask people to switch off their phones before take-offs for security reasons.

“Dear Nigerians, rest your minds, there is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING a mobile phone can do to the equipment of a modern aircraft even if the mobile phone is on a call during landing and taking off. I hereby challenge any pilot to debate this with me.

“The only reason why you are told to switch off your phones is for security reasons. So someone won’t call from the flight and say there’s a bomb or the plane is about to crash. Knowledge is power!” Daddy Freeze said.

Fans have taken to their social media to chastise Daddy Freeze, saying Pere’s advice could be for the same security reason he noted, therefore, there was no need to counter him.

Others told the OAP that his argument, if true, may not be applicable in Nigeria, they said, given the fact that most aircraft in Nigeria were not purchased as brand new, they cannot be classified as modern.
