NYANYA BOMB BLAST: Obiano seeks integrated intelligence approach to terrorism threat

Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra State has called for integrated intelligence approach to the threat terrorism poses to the country today. He spoke on the heels of Monday’s bomb blast at Nyanya, Abuja where several lives were lost.

In a condolence statement yesterday, he said ‘intensified intelligence monitoring and analysis of every link in the conception and execution of possible terror attacks will go a long way in containing the threat.’

 

Obiano expressed ‘deep regrets’ on the Nyanya bomb blast, describing it as a national tragedy. The Anambra State governor said the incident was particularly painful coming at a time the federal government was making great efforts to secure the lives and property of Nigerians.

 

Obiano expressed his deep condolences to families and relatives of the dead and injured, stating that his thoughts and prayers were with them in their dark hour of grief. Said he: “I’m personally saddened by this heinous crime. To all our brothers and sisters who lost loved ones in this ugly chapter of our national life, I say, ‘You are not alone! Your grief is our grief. It could have been anybody!”

 

Obiano appealed to all Nigerians to rise to the challenge of the present security situation, observing that the imperative of socio- economic stability necessitated the state’s recent security summit. The statement concluded by asking Nigerians to be more security conscious as they go about their daily activities.
