NSCDC Commandant General D. Ade Abolurin
The first phase will cover the commands in Oyo, Osun, Ondo, Kwara, Ogun, Ekiti, Kogi, Edo states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
NSCDC Commandant General, Ade Abolurin, disclosed in Akure that the database will also monitor performance and help solve problems, as part of measures to meet International Civil Defence Organisation Standard (ICDOS) and global best practices.
“It will eliminate the problems associated with manual record keeping and fast track interview for promotion, development course, seminar for training with names of officers that are due for such interview electronically collated and processed.
“It would also afford us the opportunity to access and evaluate the profile of personnel at a glance,” Abolurin enthused.
The system will update information on length of service, transfer/posting, promotion, course attended, skill acquired, health, and other important details about each officer, which are retrievable in a very short period.
State NSCDC Commandant, Andrew Ugwumba, assured that officers are ready to key into the initiative.
According to him, the database will also help reduce stress as well as the burden and risk of carrying documents about each time there is a verification exercise, as fingerprint will now be used instead.
