NPFL returnee, Sikiru Alimi scores as Remo Stars pip MFM

Sikiru Alimi scored his first goal for Remo Stars as the Skye Blue Stars completed a double over MFM FC at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne, Ogun State.

The fixture was a repeat of a MatchDay 1 meeting at the Mobalaji Johnson Stadium, Onikan, Lagos which the Gbenga Ogunbote side won 2-0.

This time, the game had barely started when Alimi, on his first start for the hosts capitalized on a mistake from MFM goalkeeper Isaac Jerry and slotted in a loose ball. The goal was welcomed with huge cheer from spectators at the stadium.

The 3rd-minute effort proved to be the priceless winner in a game of several begging chances.

Tolulope Ojo was denied by the woodwork in the 70th minute in an attempt to double the tally and the woodwork also denied Badejo Oluwaseun five minutes later from way out, as he tried to get an equaliser.

After the game, Coach Gbenga Ogunbote expressed delight and noted that they intend to finish in an appreciable position at the end of the season.

Coach Isiekwene Ikechukwu Christian expressed optimism that MFM will beat the drop.
