Ex-international, Christian Chukwu, has called on the League Management Company (LMC) to be consistent with its plan of action for the transformation of the Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) under the sponsorship of Globacom.
Christian Chukwu
The legendary captain of the Super Eagles and Rangers International, told newsman in Enugu that any wavering by the body would be a betrayal of the mandate and the expectation of football fans and league stakeholders.
“The LMC is trying very well and we can see light at the end of the tunnel. So much work still needs to be done, but I want them to remain consistent, especially in the area of enforcement of the standards and regulations which they have set.
“There will be no point setting the standards if they will not be enforced. Some of us have noticed pressures being put on them from several quarters to lower the scale.
“And it appears that when such detractors mobilise public opinion and the media against the LMC, there is the tendency for it to begin to reconsider certain actions.
“This will not augur well for us. We have been on the issue of reforming our professional league for over two decades now, and we cannot continue to be going back and fort all the time.
“Let us get it right for once and remember that nothing good comes easy,” Chukwu counselled.
