Human Rights Activist and Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council for Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko, Dr Tunji Abayomi has expressed concern on how the Northern Elite’s insensitivity destroyed the peace and unity of Nigeria.
While lamenting on the present situation of the country, Abayomi said the Northern elites greedily look over everything, abandoned their children to the harsh fate which today has led Nigeria an otherwise great nation into an unmitigated disaster.

For example, he said, out of 25 Senior Executive of NNPC are from the North though, the oil they preside over is from the South and not from the North.

Abayomi noted that nearly all the Parastatals of Energy and Power Sector in Nigeria are headed by the Northerners.

His words: “In Nigeria, virtually all the agencies, departments and institutions dealing with national security are headed by Northerners.

“Since independent northern political-military elites ran Nigeria like their regional property that must serve their reckless personal interest.

“So if Nigeria is in danger of collapse, Northern elites should hold themselves responsible for Nigeria’s collapse”, he added.
