Nollywood comic actor, Dejo Tunfulu dies at 49

Dejo Tunfulu shot into the limelight after featuring in the movie titled ‘Omo Oran’ alongside veteran actor Fatai Adetayo a.k.a Lalude

Famous comic actor and producer, Kunle Makinde Adetokunbo popularly known as Dejo Tunfuluin in the Yoruba movie circles has reportedly passed on.  

The news of the death of Dejo Tunfuluin who was born 49years ago was confirmed by his colleague, Kunle Afod on Friday morning on his Instagram page.  

The cause of the death of the hilarious actor was not stated in the short message posted on social media.

“You posted few days ago Dejo. Haaaaaa. This is so sad, Pressy, Tunfulu, Daddy Junior, still can’t believe this” Afod said.

Also responding to news of the demise of the actor, Nollywood producer, and director, Adeyemi Olabode, said he thought the news was a joke until he called his phone.

He went on to describe the late Dejo Tunfulu, as someone who was kind hearted and down to earth. 

“I saw the post about your demise and hurriedly called your line so you can debunk the ‘April fool’ news, but alas! It was picked by your son. You were so kind and down to earth. You are one of the few I do lean on in the entertainment industry.

” I can’t do without disturbing you with my weekly BC messages on Whatsapp. So we won’t be able to speak again Egbon. So our plans won’t be again? Rest in peace egbon Kunle Mark Tokunbo a.k.a Dejo Tunfulu.” he wrote.  

Bolaji Amusan, National President of the Theatre Arts and Motion Picture Practitioners Association of Nigeria (TAMPAN), also confirmed the death to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).

“Yes, we lost Dejo Tunfulu, I am so shocked because he still attended a party three days ago.

“May God grant him eternal rest, the association will communicate to the public further,” he said.

Dejo Tunfulu who was born on the 31st of May, 1972 in the Idumota area of Lagos Island in  Lagos State, hails from Abeokuta in Ogun State. 

He began acting in his high school days and was nurtured by notable stars such as Fausat Balogun also known as Madam Saje) and Kayode Olasehinde popularly called Ajirebi. 

Dejo Tunfulu later joined Akuko Gagara Theatre Group and Kolawole International Theatre Group and got his first television appearance in 1987 in the drama series ‘Apere Ijongbon’ by Kolawole International Theatre Group.

He shot into the limelight after featuring in the movie titled ‘Omo Oran’ alongside ace and veteran actor Fatai Adetayo a.k.a Lalude.
