Nollywood actress, Kemi Afolabi calls out GTBank

Afolabi in a recent Instagram post urged GTBank and the Central Bank of Nigeria to take appropriate actions

Popular actress, Kemi Afolabi, has taken to social media to draw the attention of Nigerians and the country’s apex bank, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to what she considered unacceptable behaviour by Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank).  

Taking to her Instagram page she appealed to her fans and other netizens to help her resolve a challenging situation she found herself in. 

According to the thespian, she mistakenly transferred the sum of N510,000 to a customer’s account in April, after returning from a pilgrimage to Mecca, Saudi Arabia. But to her dismay, GTBank is yet to reverse the transaction.  

In a plea for assistance, Afolabi took to her Instagram page and wrote: “I mistakenly transferred the sum of five hundred and ten thousand naira to a customer’s account! We both use the same bank. Since April 1st, 2023. Eyin fans mi e ma gba mi keh. My tired is exhausted honestly!”

Tagging GTBank, the actress, who features more in Yoruba movies, further said it’s been three months since the transaction took place and urged the bank and the CBN to take appropriate actions.

“Help tag @gtbank, it’s been over 3 months! They held on to my five hundred and ten thousand naira. I have been patient, I am exhausted. @gtbank @centralbankng kindly do the needful.” she added. 

Responding after her plea for assistance surfaced online, her fans and colleagues encouraged her to remain positive and advised her on how to solve the problem, while some of them shared their experiences too.
