No automatic ticket for Ambode, others in Lagos – Tinubu

Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu

National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on Tuesday declared that the party will not give automatic ticket to any aspirants in the forthcoming 2019 elections, noting that all the aspirants will pass through a direct primary.

He also disclosed that APC in Lagos State will elect all the party’s candidates for House of Assembly, House of Representatives, senatorial and governorship elections, through the direct primary, which empower party members to elect their candidates, rather than the delegate system, which provide an opportunity for few to decide faith of candidates.

Speaking yesterday at the stakeholders’ meeting of Lagos APC at the party’s secretariat in Acme Road, Ikeja, Lagos, Tinubu also took a swipe at the former President Olusegun Obasanjo over his opposition to the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari, saying no amount of opposition from the former president will prevent Buhari from winning the 2019 presidential election.

The APC national leader while stressing the need for increase in registration of new APC members and collection of the Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) in Lagos State, said any council chairman that has highest numbers of uncollected PVCs in the state will be removed.
