Justice Kudirat Motonmori Kekere-Ekun has been recommended by the National Judicial Council (NJC) to mount the saddle of Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), to succeed Justice Olukayode Ariwoola who will retire at the age of 70 on August 22 as statutorily required.
Kekere-Ekun, 66, was recommended to President Bola Tinubu for the job at a meeting of the NJC held on August 14 and 15, chaired by Ariwoola.
By law, the NJC has to recommend someone as CJN to be approved by the President.
The CJN at its latest meeting also recommended 27 candidates to various Governors as state High Court Judges and one candidate as Kadi of the Sharia Court of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
This is breaking news. Details later….
