Nimbus, New Age, others collabo for Africa Day

Nimbus Art Centre, New Age Productions and Bogobiri House will collaborate to celebrate Africa Day on May 25.

Duro Ikujenyo, musician, producer and band leader of Age of Aquarius, told TheNiche that the celebration will take the shape of the launch of his album titled Osun, exhibition and lecture.

“The exhibition titled, The Mustard Seeds Magic, will feature paintings by artist, Demola Ogunjo, on Saturday, May 24 at Bogobiri House in Ikoyi, Lagos. The next day, Femi Falana, Yeni Kuti and other speakers will take part in a lecture at the same venue,” said Ikujenyo who runs New Age Productions and is the coordinator of the Africa Day 2014 celebration.

According to him, live music will be a main feature of the celebration which will culminate in the launch of the album comprising songs he had been working on for many years.

The celebration, he said, is a throwback to May 25, 1963, which represents the historic day when African unity was declared by Dr. Kwameh Nkrumah, Ahmed Sekou Toure, Dr. Patrice Lumumba, Kenneth Kaunda, Julius Nyerere and others who founded the Organisation of African Unity (OAU).
