The Governing Board of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has approved the promotion of 510 workers of the agency.
This was announced by the Director General of NIMASA, Dr Bashir Jamoh on Wednesday through his official Twitter handle.
According to him, 110 of the promoted staff are at the management level while 400 are non-management-level employees.
Dr Jamoh urged the promoted staff to see their elevation as motivation to higher performance.
He said “I am happy to announce that the Governing Board of NIMASA has just approved the promotion of 510 staff and officers of the Agency, comprising 110 management-level and 400 non-management-level employees. Congratulations, and I urge you to see your elevation as motivation to higher performance.”

NIMASA is the apex regulatory and promotional maritime agency. The Agency was created from the merger of the National Maritime Authority and Joint Maritime Labour Industrial Council (former parastatals of the Federal Ministry of Transport) on the 1st of August 2006. The obligation of regulating the Maritime industry in Nigeria rests on the Agency through the relevant instruments:- i. Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency Act. 2007, Merchant Shipping Act. 2007 and Coastal and Inland Shipping (Cabotage) Act 2003.
