Falconets on Thursday, August 16, 2018, crashed out in their effort to grap one of the semi-final tickets in the on-going Fifa U-20 women World Cup in France.

Falconets conceded first in the 15th minutes through a curl from Bonmati, as the Spanish made it double later.

The Nigerian girls were completely overwhelmed by the Spanish girls in the first half of the game, but bounced back in the second half when they scored their only goal.

To reach this stage, Nigeria lost to Germany 1-0 in their opening game, defeated Haiti 1-0 and needed a late own goal by China right-back, Jiaxing Dou, to book their place in the knockout stages.

On their part, the Spanish U-20 women side started off its World Cup run on a hot streak. In their first game, a hat trick from Patricia Guijarro led the Spanish past Paraguay 4-1.

This is the seventh time Nigeria made it to the quarterfinals of the competition in nine appearances.
