Nigerians tell Atiku to forget 2023 quest

Atiku Abubakar

Nigerians have advised former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, to forget his 2023 presidential bid and allow the South to produce President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor.

The advice of the Nigerians followed the resolution of governors from the southern states who said the 2023 presidency be zoned to their region in the interest of fairplay.

The resolution puts an obstacle on Atiku’s presidential ambition, especially as his foot soldiers have already started campaigning for him with the launch of the Atiku Kawai Media Office headed by his ally, Olushola Olufolabi.

Olufalabi is already resisting the resolution of the southern governors on the ground that the Nigerian constitution guarantees every Nigerian at any time to vote and be voted for.

“That is what is binding on the people and on the land, not what some entitled elites sit down to express and tag as ‘fair play and equitable,” he says.

But Nigerians, using Twitter, railed against Atiku’s presidential ambition.

@MrOdamz said: “From all indications, the APC will zone the Presidency to the South in 2023. It will be suicidal if PDP insists on an Atiku presidency in 2023 with the mindset that the North will vote its own. Remember the North voted Abiola, Obasanjo and even GEJ (Goodluck Ebele Jonathan) over its own. He that has ears.”

@DE_COMMUNICATOR quipped: “Let me tell you again, Atiku and Tinubu belong to the same WhatsApp group with Buhari as Admin.”

@TheBriDen tweeted: “I have a lot of love and respect for Atiku but 2023 Presidency is for the South for the sake of equity and justice.”

@firstladyship mocked: “Southern Governors just put a final nail on kawai. 2023”

@SavvyRinu wondered: “Tell me why Former Vice President Atiku has to be President in 2023.Educate me like a child.”

@JajaPhD argued: “I think Atiku’s time is now passed.”
