Many Nigerians say Abba Kyari, the suspended head of Nigeria Police Intelligence Response Team (IRT), has shown a lack of basic intelligence in many of his recent Facebook postings.
After the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) exposed his dealing with the international fraudster, Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi, Kyari has made many Facebook posts to defend himself, edited the posts or outrightly deleted them. This has made many Nigerians wonder how a man who headed the intelligence arm of the Nigeria Police, would be lacking in intelligence.
Kyari had earlier posted that he only acted as a middleman to procure native clothes for the self-confessed fraudster. He also called the FBI investigation a joke. He deleted the post the following day.
On Tuesday, August 3, he edited the part in his first statement where he said Hushpuppi sent N300,000 for native clothes. He added a new claim that Hushpuppi contacted his office a second time to help recover N8 million. He deleted the post entirely. This has made many question Kyari’s intelligence.
On Twitter, the comments are many.
@gimbakakanda said: “As at last night, DCP Abba Kyari had edited his Facebook statement a record 12 times. He edited out his role as a Kaftan plug for Hushpuppi and wrote that he’s a mere debt collector; a more incriminating role. This morning, he deleted the entire post. This man isn’t smart at all.”
@AishaYesufu also said: “Abba Kyari’s intelligence is what is heading our intelligence unit and you wonder why terrorist criminals kidnappers and co are always winning.”
@D_Real_Chuck07 said: “After listening to everything Abba has been saying since the FBI issue started, he is not a bright person.”
@DemolaRewaju added: “Our national lust for ruthless heroes who embrace limelight and floodlights is why Abba Kyari was considered a supercop and CP Muhammad Wakili aka Singham is relatively unknown. It is a national pathology and the greatest proof of it is that Buhari is the President.”
