Her choice of song of the 40-year-old singer at the event, however, stirred reactions across various social media platforms.
Asa, who is generally associated with socially-conscious music, delivered a powerful performance of her hit single, ‘Fire on the Mountain’.
The song released in 2007 tells the story of a country that is ravaged by socio-political and economic problems and inhabited by lackadaisical citizens and leaders.
The singer’s decision to sing such a song at such an event elicited different reactions from Nigerians who concluded the song is apt considering the mood of the nation.
A netizen identified as realestatewithqueen said: “Asa pass the message subtly to them, they must hear word.”
Another internet user, ag_courage wrote, “I love this, I for like to see their faces o cos her lyrics speaks the current state of Naija.”
