Nigerian produces World Bank data on Buhari’s ‘backwardness’

Olusegun Obasanjo simply endorsed Peter Obi for President, but it somehow rubbed up Muhammadu Buhari the wrong way leading him to spew lies against, and being rude and insulting to, the former President, by far his senior in the army and in statesmanship.

Buhari attacked Obasanjo through proxies – Garba Shehu and Bashir Ahmed – by getting personal, abusive, trampling truth, and by gaslighting Nigerians.

“Buhari is ahead of … Obasanjo in all fields of national development and to do that is cardinal sin to Obasanjo whose hallucinations tell him that he is the best ever to lead Nigeria and there will never be another one better than him. – The Presidency,” wrote Ahmed, who is jostling to outdo Femi Adesina in shameless falsehoods.

Hally Ramzy, a Twitter user, reacted by blasting Ahmed for saying Buhari is ahead of Obasanjo in all ramifications.

He shared a graph of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) performance of Nigerian Presidents from 1999 to 2021 and said Buhari is only ahead of Obasanjo in “backwardness.”

Ramzy tagged the World Bank as the source of the data in the graph which rates Obasanjo the highest performing President in terms of GDP with 15.33 per cent and Buhari least with 0.81 per cent in 2017 and 3.35 per cent in 2021.

“Bashir said Buhari is far ahead of Obasanjo in every aspect, this is proof that Buhari is truly far ahead in backwardness in every aspect. Datas don’t lie. Nigerians it’s very clear, VOTE WISELY,” Ramzy wrote, per reporting by The PUNCH.

Obasanjo’s appeal to voters

Ahmed was on Monday reacting to Obasanjo’s new year message on Sunday, titled, “My Appeal To All Nigerians, Particularly Young Nigerians,” in which he endorsed Obi as the best candidate for President and urged citizens to vote for him on 25 February.

Obasanjo, in his well-reasoned and well-written piece, described Obi as his mentee and argued the former Anambra State Governor ticks all the right boxes for the job.

“None of the contestants is a saint but when one compares their character, antecedent, their understanding, knowledge, discipline, and vitality that they can bring to bear and the great efforts required to stay focused on the job, particularly looking at where the country is today and with the experience on the job that I personally had, Peter Obi as a mentee has an edge,” he said.

“Others like all of us have what they can collectively contribute to the new dispensation to liberation, restoration and salvaging of Nigeria.

“One other important point to make about Peter is that he is a needle with thread attached to it from North and South and he may not get lost.

“In other words, he has people who can pull his ears, if and when necessary. He has a young and able running mate with a clean track record of achievement both in public and private life.”
