Nigeriais merely passing through a temporary phase of hardship, says Marvelous Kalu, the moderator, Synod of the West, Presbyterian Church of Nigeria (PCN), who wants Christians to unite and rise up to the goal of the church despite the challenges.

Kalu made the point at the opening service of the West Synod at the Lagos Presbyterian Church, Yaba Lagos, an occasion where the congregation seeks the face of God on thevision articulation and projection of the church for the year.

He expressed optimism that Nigeria will overcome its present economic predicament but urged Christians to stand in the gapto attract the move of God in the nation.

“What is happening in Nigeria is only but a phase. We should not lose hope because our God is in full charge,” he stressed.

“The church must get its act together and the government too must rise to the challenge of its responsibility. It must think more about the people in all it does.

“There is need for unity among Christians, among churches, and churches need to be united in seeking the face of God for His blessings on the land.

“We must not be afraid of difficulties because God has promised us that we will always overcome as we trust in Him. No phase of difficulty can stop the church or the move of God for our nation.

“Nigeria is a great nation but we need to get our act together to build a great nation. The truth about God is that He does not work with the indices on the ground but on nothing.

“Christians must trust God for impossibilities and should not be discouraged.”

Kaluurged Christians to show love at all times, tolerate one another, correct one another, and encourage the weak.
