Nigeria will face DR Congo and Burkina Faso in a three-nation tournament as they prepare for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

Burkina Faso and DR Congo are among the twenty four countries that have qualified for the 2023 edition of the AFCON finals.

The pre-AFCON tournament will take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) where the Super Eagles are expected to camp ahead of the AFCON.

Nigeria, DR Congo and Burkina Faso are expected to use the tourney, which will take place in January 2024, to prepare for the main competition.

Cote d’Ivoire will host the 34th edition of the biennial African association football tournament organised by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) from January 13 to February 11, 2024.

The Super Eagles will take on Equatorial Guinea in their opening game on January 14.

Meanwhile, Nigeria began their World Cup qualification with two draws against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

The score draws led to calls for the sack of the Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro, whom most pundits and fans berated for his inability to harness the abundance of talent at his disposal.
