Nigeria national football team, Super Eagles, on Saturday,
October 7, 2017, at Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, defeated Zambia 1-0 to become the first African team to qualify to play in the
FIFA World Cup to be hosted in Russia, even with one match to play.
Alex Iwobi’s 74th minute strike through an assist from Abdullai Shehu was all Nigeria needed to grab the three
maximum points.
But earlier in the half, Zambia had scored a goal that was ruled off-side.
Ola Aina of Chelsea came in 78th minute, his debute for Nigeria, while Shehu was man of the match.
Cameroun bit Algeria 2-0 in Yaunde.
