The winner of this year’s Battle Field Africa, organised by TechCrunch, an American online publisher of tec industry news, is M-SCAN from Uganda.
M-SCAN is an ultrasound technology developed for pregnant women using just mobile phone app.
M-SCAN carted away $25,000 in prize money. The runner-up is BetrrFinance, a Financial Graph system that connects people to a greater financial existence in Africa.
Held in Lagos, Nigeria, Battle Field Africa followed a successful first edition held 2017 in Nairobi, Kenya which produced as winner Lori Systems from Kenya.
Lori System is dubbed the Uber for lorries because it is a logistics platform for the cargo transport system in Africa.
This year’s Battle Field Africa had over a dozen entries and had as judges tech experts from across the continent.
Early this year, TechCrunch held Battle Field Europe in Berlin, Germany.
Nigeria is Africa’s biggest tech hub followed by Silicon Savannah in Kenya.
