The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Western Marine Command, Lagos, said on Thursday that it has intercepted 200 bags of rice with duty paid value of N2.23 million.
He said the command was committed to the war against smuggling along the creeks under its jurisdiction.
Gabriel, however, vowed to deal with unrepentant smugglers in the area.
“We will continue to be ahead of the smugglers and the bottom line is to frustrate their efforts and make smuggling an unprofitable business to embark on.
“It has never been business as usual because we want people indulging in smuggling to understand the damaging effect of their activities on the nation’s economy,” he said. NAN
