Moderator, Synod of the West, Presbyterian Church of Nigeria (PCN), Rev Marvelous Kalu said the present Nigerian condition is but a phase.
He also called for unity among Christians, urging them to rise up to the goal of the church despite the challenges that abound.
Rev Kalu made the comment at the ceremonial opening service of the West synod at the Lagos Presbyterian Church, Yaba Lagos.
Ceremonial opening service in the Presbyterian Church is an occasion to seek the face of God concerning the 2017 vision articulation and projection of the church for the year.
The theme for the 2017 ceremonial opening is the “Unstoppable Church”.
The clergy expressed optimism that the country will overcome its present economic predicament but asked Christians to ensure they stand on the garb to attract the move of God in the nation.
Said Rev Kalu “What is happening in Nigeria is only but a phase. We should not lose hope because our God is in full charge. The church must get its acts together and the government too must rise to the challenge of their responsibility. They must think more about the people in all that they do.
“There is need for unity among Christians, among churches and churches needs to be united in seeking the face of God for His blessings on the land.
“We must not be afraid of difficulties because God has promised us that we will always overcome as we trust in Him. No phase of difficulty can stop the church or the move of God for our nation”
“Nigeria is a great nation but we need to put our acts together to build a great nation. The truth about God is that He does not work with the indices on ground but on nothing. Christains must trust God for impossibilities and should not be discouraged”.
The clergy urged Christians to show love at all times, tolerate one another, correct one another and encourage the weak.
