Nigeria beat South Africa 2-1, qualify for semi-finals

Nigeria beat South Africa 2-1 to reach Africa Cup of Nations semi-finals.

The Super Eagles met the Bafana Bafana of South Africa on Wednesday.

Nigeria had qualified last week for the Group of 16.

Nigeria led South Africa during the first half with a lone goal.

By the time the match ended during the second half after 90 minutes, the Super Eagles played their South African counterparts 2-1 to book a place for the semi finals.

Samuel Chukwueze put Nigeria ahead in the first half before Bongani Zungu levelled on 70 minutes with a looping header, awarded after a VAR review, but Troost-Ekong struck a minute from time at a corner to set up a last-four meeting with Algeria or Ivory Coast.
