Nigeria beat Algeria, lift U-23 trophy

-

Nigeria defeated Algeria 2-1 for the 2015 U23 Confederation of African football (CAF) Under-23 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) crown at the Leopold Sedar Senghor stadium in Dakar.

Samson Siasia’s Dream Team VI and Algeria’s team have already qualified for next year’s Rio Olympics by virtue of reaching the championship final.

They were joined by South Africa, who defeated host, Senegal 3-1 in penalty kicks in the Third Place match played earlier on Saturday.

Two goals from Oghenekaro Etebo, a penalty in the 15th minute and a solo run with a delicate finish in the 40th minute, rendered Algeria’s goal a mere consolation.

Etebo’s brought his tournament harvest to five as the highest goal scorer of all time in the tournament.
