Niger targets NNPC/Shell Cup quarterfinal

Niger State champions, Ahmadu Babago Secondary School, Minna on Thursday enhanced their chances of qualifying for the quarterfinals of the 2017 NNPC/Shell for All Nigeria Secondary Schools Football Championship with two straight victories.
Playing at the Bauchi center of the zonal preliminaries, the team defeated Taraba State champions, Government Technical Training School, Jalingo 2-1 in the first match and also beat Plateau State representatives 2-1 in the second match to enhance their chances of qualifying for the quarterfinals.
In other matches played in the center, Government Day secondary School, Lamisula, Borno played goalless draw with Yobe while Family Support Secondary School Katsina, Katsina walloped Plateau 3-0.
At the Uyo center, Abia drew 1-1 with Ebonyi; Enugu bashed Rivers 3-0; Mbagwa Community Secondary School, Lessel. Benue drew 1-1 with Rivers while Imo defeated Abia 2-1.
At the Ijebu-Ode center, it was goals galore as Oyo whitewashed Kwara 5-0; Edo bashed Master Care International School, Asaba. Delta 5-0; Lagos walloped Ondo 5-0 while Comprehensive Secondary School, Edemeya Akwa Ibom beat Islahudeen Middle School, Osogbo, Osun 1-0.
From the Katsina center, Kogi bashed Jigawa 4-0; Sultan Bello Secondary School Sokoto, Sokoto beat Kebbi 2-1; Zamfara massacred Jigawa 5-0; FOSLA Academy, Karshi, Abuja bashed Kaduna 3-0 while Nasarawa beat Bauchi 1-0.
The zonal preliminaries continue today with matches at the four centers to produce the eight teams that go into the quarterfinals stage.
