Niger State government has joined many other Nigerians to laud the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government over the release of 21 girls who are among the over 250 Chibok school girls kidnapped by Boko-Haram over two years ago.
The state Commissioner for Information, Tourism and Culture, Mr. Jonathan Vatsa, made the commendation in a statement in Minna.
He said that the release of the girls re-awakened the hope that the remaining would soon be released.
He stated: “The release of the 21 of the Chibok school girls has proven those who are pessimistic about the release of the girls wrong, it is indeed a great thing and pleasant sight to see the girls re-unite with their parents and families.
“What the previous government could not do, the present government with the commitment of Mr. President has proven to Nigerians and the international community that it could be done.
“This is exemplary scenario to behold of Nigeria before the world that we have a committed government in place and with purposeful leadership the challenges posed by the dreaded Boko-Haram can be overcome.
“At a point Nigerians have lost the hope of securing the release even one Chiobok girls, but today 21 of the girls have been released and this means the lost hope is now being regained. Thank God for the kind of leader we have today”.
Also, the former Military Head of State, General Ibrahim Babangida, describe the release of the girls as a thing of joy.
His words: “It was a thing of joy for the Chbok girls to be reunited with their parents after being forcefully taken away by the Boko-Haram terrorists.”
He praised President Buhari for the feat, stressing, “The release of 21 Chibok girls is gratifying and the result of delicate negotiations with the Boko-Haram. “This is an indication that President Buhari’s administration is committed to ensuring safe return of the girls”.
Babangida, who commended the gallantry of Nigerian soldiers, also reaffirmed his belief in the professional capability of Nigerian Army and other security agencies in ensuring a permanent end to acts of terrorism in Nigeria.
