Abubakar Sani Bello, Niger State governor

.Inaugurates committee

Governor Abubarkar Sani Bello of Niger State on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, inaugurated a three-man committee to investigate allegations of financial misappropriation, acts of misdeeds and high-handedness against the suspended Chairman of Suleja Local Government Council, Chairman, Ahmed Dikko, and his Vice, Abdullahi Maajin.

In place of the suspended council chairman and his deputy, the Leader of the council’s legislature, Abdullahi Abubakar, will serve as interim chairman, pending the two weeks the three-man committee headed by Justice Musa Abdul of the state High Court completes its assignment.

The governor, while inaugurating the committee, said, “Following the suspension of the Chairman and Vice Chairman of Suleja local government area, there should not be a vacuum and this is why we are appointing the Leader of the House to act pending the outcome of the Committee’s investigation”.

Bello urged the committee members to pay attention to the assignment given to them as it is based on their individual merits even as he advised them to be just, fair, humane and as objective as possible.

While expressing confidence in the pedigree of the committee members, Bello challenged them to be dedicated to the assignment to justify the confidence reposed on them in the discharge of duties.

The suspended Suleja Local Government Chairman, Ahmed Dikko, and his Vice, Abdullahi Maajin were accused by the legislative arm of the council of disposing lands and other properties of the council without due process and consulting members of the council for approval.

The Speaker of the Suleja Legislative Council, Abdullahi Abubakar had also earlier notified the Niger State House of Assembly of the decision of the Council to suspend the Chairman and Vice Chairman for three months until they are cleared of the allegations.
