The Governor of Niger State, Alhaji Abubakar Sani-Bello, has promised the 2017 Batch ‘B’ National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members posted for their one year mandatory national service in the 25 councils in the state of adequate security and welfare package.

Apparently worried that no fewer than 213 earlier posted to the state were deployed for marital and health challenges, the governor appealed to them to stop rejecting postings to council areas where their services were needed most.

Governor Bello made the pledge at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Paiko in Paikoro Local Government Area during the closing ceremony of the 2017 Batch ‘B’ orientation course.
Bello, who spoke through his Deputy, Alhaji Ahmed Ketso, however, reminded the Corps members on the need to respect the culture and traditions of host communities and support the administration stride at improving the education, health care, agriculture and rural development.
Bello also appealed to the 2, 113 Corps members to be committed to their work, disclosing to them that the government was strengthening various categories of awards to recognise and reward Corps members who distinguish themselves in selfless service during the service year.

Meanwhile, Governor Bello has appealed to Corps members to stop rejecting deployment to council areas while also urging employers to respect the ideals of NYSC founding fathers by accepting and accommodating Corps members posted to their organisations.
Besides, the state government is putting in place necessary logistics for effective and efficient utilization of Corps members in line with the vision and mission for the establishment of the scheme by the founding fathers, which according to the Governor must be sustained.
State NYSC Coordinator, Mrs. Theresa Arokoyo, had commended the state government for the provision of drugs and as well, facilitating the smooth running of the two weeks camping clinic to meet the health needs of the Corps members.
While pleading with employers to stop rejecting Corps members posted to their organisations in the spirit of national unity, Arokoyo advised Corps members to be good ambassadors of the NYSC and to practice all that they learnt during the two weeks orientation course in their respective places of primary assignment.
