.Monarch marks 14 years on the throne
The Governor of Niger State, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, has attributed successes recorded by his administration in the past two years to wise counsels he enjoyed from traditional institutions in the state led by the Etsu Nupe, Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar.
Governor Bello made the remark as a mark of honour to the Etsu Nupe to commemorate the traditional ruler’s 14th year on the throne which also coincided with his 65th birthday anniversary in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Jibrin Ndace.
He said that the immense contributions of the Etsu Nupe to the policies and programmes of the state government especially in the promotion of education in Niger State, Bida emirate council in general, has remained a reference point.
The governor also praised the monarch for encouraging women education in the Bida emirate and across the state.
His words: “The Etsu Nupe has contributed immensely to the development of the state. His fatherly role and advice helped in shaping Niger State towards the path of academic and socio-economic growth and development”.
Alhaji Yahaya Abubakar retired from the Nigeria Army as General before emerging the 13th Etsu Nupe and was crowned in 2003.
