Niger governor dissolves cabinet

Abubakar Sani Bello, Niger State governor

.Retains three commissioners

Niger State Governor, Abubarkar Sani Bello, has dissolved his two years cabinet.

This may not be unconnected with the ongoing power play within the ranks of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) and other power brokers in the state, while no official reason was given for the measure taken on Wednesday, October 11, 2017.

Governor Bello announced the dissolution of the cabinet after Wednesday’s State Executive Council meeting at Government House, Minna.

He thanked the 15 commissioners relieved of their duties and wished them well in their after-service endeavours.

The three commissioners appointed barely two months in office: Commissioner for Animal and Forest Resources, Alhaji Mohammed Mudi; Culture and Tourism, Mr. Daniel Kolo; and their Mineral Resources and Mining counterpart, Nuhu Dukku, however, escaped the sledge hammer.

Two years of Bello administration had been very stormy, more words and less of actions, more criticisms than commendations especially in the lopsidedness appointments which many Nigerlites said highly favoured one of the zones against the two others.
