Niger State former governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, has lost his elder brother, Alhaji Usman Aliyu Zinda.
The late Aliyu Zinda died in the early hours of Thursday after brief illness at an Abuja hospital.
Zinda, aged 67, had worked with the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), where he introduced a number of innovations that stood the test of time, including the introduction of video rental and film production in Nigeria broadcast media.
The late broadcaster also established one of the foremost video production companies in the country. He was also a writer whose books were in WAEC curriculum, besides excelling in a number of businesses which extended beyond the shores of Nigeria.
Details of the immediate cause of his death could not be ascertained but a family source said the late broadcast icon may have died as a result of complications after suffering respiratory related attacks and a recent kidney stone he was diagnosed of early this year.
The late Usman Aliyu Zinda was buried Thursday afternoon in Minna, Niger State capital, according to Islamic rites after prayers at the Minna Central Mosque.
