Adamawa State Governor, Bala Nggilari, has threatened local government chairmen and councillors with disciplinary measures for supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking at a PDP stakeholders’ meeting in Yola yesterday, the governor frowned upon what he called ingratitude of party members working with the opposition.
The state government had dissolved Gombi LG council on allegation of financial recklessness shortly after the chairman, Rufai Umar and most of the councillors defected to the APC.
“Why should a PDP member support Buhari at the presidential election or work against Ribadu? Anybody who is not for Goodluck Jonathan should get out of the party, anybody who is not with Ribadu should get out. I will investigate the ocal government chairmen and take a decision, we will get the report in a few days and pass judgement”, he said.
Earlier, the state chairman of the PDP, Chief Joel Madaki, regretted the attitude of the local government officials, urging the governor to sanction chairmen and councillors who work for APC candidates.
“Some of our local council chairmen and majority of 226 councillors in the state are not with us, Your Excellency, what are we waiting for?”, he said.
He also noted that the crisis in the state chapter over the primaries had been resolved, urging party supporters to put the crisis behind them and vote for the PDP governorship candidate, Nuhu Ribadu.
In his remarks, Nuhu Ribadu assured Adamawa people of more development projects if they vote for the PDP in forthcoming election, saying President Jonathan had concern for the state.
