NFF staff block Giwa’s ‘Glass House’ takeover attempt

Chris Giwa

Attempts by Chris Giwa, who is still laying claim to the Presidency of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), despite a five-year ban slammed on him by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), to take over the federation’s secretariat this afternoon in Abuja was rebuffed by NFF staff.

According to reports, Giwa had arrived the Glass House determined to take over the secretariat from Amaju Pinnick, who is duly recognised by world football governing body, FIFA as the head of Nigerian football, only to be resisted by the staff, who prevented him from carrying out his action.

However, speaking to journalists after failing to ‘take over’ the secretariat, Giwa stressed that his attempt was backed by a judgement of a Plateau State High Court.

He also promised he would be attending next Tuesday’s meeting called by the House of Representatives Committee on Sports, which is trying to find a lasting solution to face-off between the two men, which if not handled properly could see Nigeria being banned by FIFA.
