Three officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) have tested positive for coronavirus (COVID-19), following widespread tests of staff.

The exercise became necessary after a member of the NFF management tested positive for COVID-19 about two weeks ago.

Confirming the development, NFF’s secretary general, Mohammed Sanusi, said that a ‘significant number’ of the individuals who were tested at the federation returned negative results, adding that the officials who tested positive to the deadly virus are currently asymptomatic and in ‘very good health condition,’ while further results are being awaited.

“I decided that tests be conducted for all the staff of the Nigeria Football Federation because we had interactions with them, especially the Director, Finance and Administration,” the NFF scribe explained on AIT.

“And we made that arrangement with them, (people at) Nigeria Football Federation were tests.

“The results have started coming out, we have received a significant number so far from the tests conducted.

“And I’m happy to tell you that a significant number of the staff tested are negative. We had, of course, for now three positive results and they are in very good health condition.”
