Newcastle moved out of relegation after a massive win over fellow strugglers Everton in Frank Lampard’s first Premier League game in charge of the Toffees.
Jamaal Lascelles’s own goal in the 36th minute gave the away side a 1-0 lead before another own goal from Evertons’ Mason Holgate 108 seconds later restored parity.
On resumption of the second half, Ryan Fraser put Newcastle in front for the first time in the game after he poked in an effort following an excellent run from French winger, Allan Saint-Maximin.

Kieran Trippier took the game beyond Everton in the 80th minute when he released a thunderbolt from a 25-yard free-kick to earn Newcastle a precious 3-1 win.
It could have been even better had Jacob Murphy not hit the post late on, but this was a display that was encouraging for Newcastle but worrying for Lampard.
The Toffees now sit a point ahead of the home side and have now been sucked into the relegation dogfight. They face another huge test against Leeds on Saturday.
Kieran Trippier speaking to BT Sport after the match said they (Newcaslte) were the better and more dominant side.
He also said the team knew the task ahead of them and are doing everything they can to avoid relegation.
He said, “It shows the massive character from the team. We are going to need everybody. We know the position we are in. We got a great three points but still loads of games to go and we are taking one at a time.
“Feel we controlled the game and were dominant. To concede from a set-piece was disappointing, but to come from behind shows character and bodes well for the rest of the season.
“The most important thing is the team and the team’s performance.
“I came here to challenge myself and help my teammates. I am here to help on and off the pitch. Most important thing is results and to stay in Premier League and that’s our aim”
