Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, the former Senate leader, has been be named the chairman, Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC), a source said.
It would be recalled that President Muhammadu Buhari sacked an erstwhile Managing Director, Mr. Bassey Dan-Abia, and the two executive directors for Finance and Projects last year.
The Federal Government announced the appointment of the immediate past Rivers State Information Commissioner, Ibim Semenitari, as acting Managing Director, pending the appointment of a substantive board.
Ndoma-Egba was elected as senator in the 5th (2003–2007) National Assembly representing Cross River Central Senatorial District, and was reelected in 2007 for a further four-year term. Senator Ndoma-Egba was a member of Senate committees on Upstream Petroleum Resources, Human Rights and Legal Matters, and Information and Media, and was the deputy chairman of the Judiciary Committee of the Nigerian Senate.
In February, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun, received Ndoma-Egba, a former Peoples Democratic Party stalwart as well as a former governor of the state, Mr. Clement Ebri, and Senator Bassey Otu into the ruling All Progressive Congress.
