Ndigbo Lagos, the umbrella body of all Ndigbo cultural organisations in Lagos, will on Saturday May 10 honour some Igbo who recently left office after distinguishing themselves in the public and private sectors.
All the five South East Governors and that of Delta State, Emmanuel Uduaghan, are expected to attend the event at Oriental Hotel, Lekki, Lagos.
Those to be honoured are Peter Obi (former Anambra State Governor), General Azubuike Ihejirika (former Chief of Army Staff), Admiral Dele Ezeoba (former Chief of Naval Staff), Professor Barth Nnaji (former Power Minister), Stella Oduah (former Aviation Minister), Reginald Chika Stanley (former PPPRA Executive Secretary).
They also include Rejinald Ihejiahi (former Fidelity Bank Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer), Chima Ibeneche (former NLNG Managing Director), Ken Igbokwe (former Price Water House West Africa Managing Partner).
Former Commonwealth Secretary General, Emeka Anyaoku, is expected to chair the occasion, which will also be attended by the Obi of Onitsha, Nnaemeka Achebe, and Ndigbo Lagos President, Anya O. Anya.
Anya told journalists in Lagos that Obi exercised the discipline and prudence of corporate governance in public service as well as a simplicity of lifestyle that removed the domineering arrogance identified with such positions.
He said Ihejirika and Ezeoba both brought humility, loyalty and dignity to public service.
Nnaji was not only a trailblazer, Anya stressed, but he redefined the power industry; and Stanley brought integrity, due process and managerial panache to the sensitive down stream of the petroleum industry.
All others also distinguished themselves outstandingly, Anya added.
