The German tactician who managed the Super Eagles from 2016 to 2021 is expected to lead the Squirrels of Benin Republic against Nigeria in a 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Monday.
The crucial encounter is slated for the Felix Houphouet Boigny Stadium, Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.
However, speaking ahead of the match, Ndidi stated that facing the German will be a big motivation for the Super Eagles.

He went on to say the team must approach the game like they have a point to prove to the 70-year-old Rohr.
The Leicester City midfielder said, “Gernot Rohr, he coached us for five years, but within those years players are coming, players are going.
“Facing him is actually a motivation because we know he’s a good coach, and we know he’s going to plan to win.
“While approaching that game, we have to show him that he actually missed something in the team, that’s what we have to do now.”
