NDE unveils online registration for trainees

Sen. Chris Ngige, Labour Minister

The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has created online registration for its trainees across the country to ensure transparency and convenience for targeted youths and clients in Nigeria.

The Director General, NDE, Dr. Nasir Ladan, disclosed this in Minna, the Niger State capital, while inspecting training facilities for 20 participants selected in the Advanced Open Apprenticeship Scheme (AOAS).

The director general said, “All our trainees nationwide must register online to ensure transparency because the world is now a digitalised global village. We should not be left behind in technological advancement.

“As you register we monitor from the Headquarters. As soon as the registration is completed the name and other details of the trainee will go into the NDE data base.”

The director general was represented by the Deputy Director, Vocational Skills Development Department of the directorate, Alhaji Aliyu Abubakar.

The new advancements in NDE, according to the director general, were part of measure to computerize the activities of NDE and commended the four training centres in Minna for meeting up with expectations.

The four centres were well equipped to train participants during the two month training, he said, explaining that after the training, trainees are expected to be self-reliant because they would create jobs and wealth for self and others.

“They are trained to become employers of labour instead of seeking for jobs”, he said, adding, that the trainees had earlier undergone five months basic training under the NDE National Open Apprenticeship Scheme (NOAS) to qualify for the two month AOAS.
