Napoli lawyer Mattia Grassani has threatened legal action against Super Eagles’ striker, Victor Osimhen if he decides to represent Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Osimhen took to his social media account recently to declare himself fit and ready to participate in the African soccer fiesta taking place in the West African country in January.

Reacting to the claim, Napoli’s lawyer, Grassani said he might be forced to sue the striker if he goes ahead to play for Nigeria, as stated.

He said the player failed to consider the fact that the club has spent so much money on him and that he cannot risk being infected at the tournament.

Curiously, he was more concerned with the possibility of the player getting infected with the Omicron variant of the coronavirus at the tournament than this recent facial injury, which has kept him out of action for a while.

The lawyer told Calcionapoli24.it that the club will first try to stop Osimhen from getting a call up, after which they may be forced to seek legal redress to prevent him from going to the tournament and contacting the virus. .

Grassani said, “[Napoli] have invested a lot of money in signing Victor Osimhen and if he were to come back infected it would be tough.

“The first step would be a warning [to prevent a call up] then if there were concrete elements to sue because the health standards are not the same as in European competitions, then there could be more appeals to gain an exemption for Europe-based players!”
