President Buhari approved the appointment of Ahmed Halilu in September 2022 folowing the recommendation of the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, who serves as the NSPMC board chairman.
Naja’atu said Halilu is the elder brother to Aisha Buhari.
Her reaction was in response to the statement made by the Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir el-Rufai, that some elements in Aso Rock were working to frustrate the victory of APC presidential candidate, Bola Tinubu, in the forthcoming elections.
Naja’atu Mohammed spoke on Monday while featuring on Arise TV Morning Show.
Mohammed said unlike El-Rufai, she was not afraid to mention names.
Naja’atu Mohammed also narrated how APC begged to appoint her as a director in the Tinubu campaign team.
She said Tinubu in particular kept calling her.
“If they (the APC) knew I was incompetent, why were they begging me? Falake cannot lie and say he did not beg me to take that appointment. Asiwaju called me. I still have the text. He called me severally. I didn’t even know his number, I refused to pick,” Mohammed said on Arise TV Morning Show today.
The Minister of State for Labour and Employment and spokesperson for the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, Festus Keyamo, had claimed that Mohammed chased Tinubu to London for an appointment in the PCC.
“What she (Mohammed) went to London to do was to grovel and lobby. We don’t see people who are worth their salt pursuing Asiwaju all over the globe. Why did she not meet him in Nigeria? Why chase him to London?” Keyamo had said in an interview with a national newspaper after She left the Tinubu campaign council.
